Julia Saad, Mental Health Therapist

My name is Julia (she/her), and I am a mental health therapist at Collective Healing Centre. I completed my internship at the clinic, and I am grateful to be staying on as a mental health therapist with the Collective while awaiting registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). I am completing my Master of Counselling from City University, and I bring over 11 years of experience in education, where I supported youth, families, and communities in navigating growth and change in a bilingual K-12 school setting.

My work is grounded in narrative therapy, with a deep respect for the stories we carry and the meanings we make from them. I believe identity is not fixed, but something that evolves over time. It is shaped by culture, relationships, and lived experience. Therapy offers a space to gently explore those stories, reconnect with your sense of self, and consider new ways forward.

I primarily work with children, teens, young adults, and queer clients. I strive to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and collaborative. I can incorporate different tools to support exploration and insight, always grounded in your goals and the therapeutic relationship, such as Dungeons and Dragons-style roleplay activities, music reflection, or games.

You are not a problem to be solved. You are a person with a story. I am here to walk alongside you as you make sense of it.

I also offer therapy services in French

My approach to counselling includes Narrative Therapy (NT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). I am flexible to pivot between techniques and approaches to best serve you as the client.

I am eager to work with individuals of all ages and I am comfortable working with many presenting issues. My areas of focus include stress/burnout, boundaries, relationship challenges, grief/loss, anxiety, and neurodivergence. I am also passionate about helping 2SLGBTQI+ youth through gender identity and sexual orientation transitions. I am also bilingual and can communicate fluently in French.

It can be uncomfortable to work towards change, but it is when we experienced discomfort that we also experience growth. I am grateful to have the opportunity to witness your future growth!
